Report: Amazon eyeing 'ManningCast' pursuit
A sweepstake for Peyton and Eli Manning could be coming in the near future.
Amazon is interested in taking "ManningCast" away from ESPN when the current three-year deal lapses after 2023, sources tell Front Office Sports' Michael McCarthy.
The alternate Monday Night Football show headlined by the Manning brothers has been a huge hit in its first season, generating the seven most-watched alternate telecasts in ESPN history.
However, Amazon is taking over the exclusive rights to Thursday Night Football next season and could apparently be prepared to write a blank check to secure the former star quarterbacks.
"Amazon could just come in with a ton of money for the show - plus Amazon Prime content deals for Omaha (Productions) - then move 'ManningCast' over in two years," a source told McCarthy.
The Mannings are reportedly expected to enter exclusive-window talks with ESPN sometime in 2022.
Peyton and Eli will call two more games this season - the Cleveland Browns-Pittsburgh Steelers contest Jan. 3 and the wild-card game Jan. 17.
