Washington's Heinicke placed on COVID-19 list
The Washington Football Team placed Taylor Heinicke on the COVID-19 list, the team announced Friday.
The move came after the quarterback tested positive for the virus, according to Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.
Washington could be without its top-two passers as Kyle Allen is also on the COVID-19 list.
The NFC East club signed Garrett Gilbert off the New England Patriots' practice squad, and the signal-caller could be in line to start Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Washington likely won't name a starter until Sunday's pregame, a source told Schefter.
Kyle Shurmur and Jordan Ta'amu are the other quarterback options on Washington's roster.
Washington currently has over 20 players on the COVID-19 list, including defensive starters Montez Sweat, Jonathan Allen, and Kendall Fuller.
Washington (6-7) holds the NFC's final playoff spot entering Week 15.
