New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard suffered a torn Achilles in Sunday's 21-6 loss to the Dallas Cowboys and will miss the remainder of the season, the team announced.

Shepard was carted off toward the end of the fourth quarter after going down with a non-contact injury. He had two catches for 15 yards in the NFC East matchup.

The 28-year-old has endured an injury-plagued season. He missed time with hamstring and quadriceps issues earlier in the year and entered Week 15 with a calf injury.

The wideout has racked up 36 catches for 366 yards and one touchdown in seven appearances this campaign.

Shepard has two more seasons remaining on his contract. But he will have a $12.495-million cap hit in 2022 and can be cut for a saving of $4.505 million, per Spotrac.
