Washington activates Heinicke from COVID-19 list
Washington Football Team quarterback Taylor Heinicke has cleared the NFL's COVID-19 protocols and will return to practice Thursday, the team announced.
Heinicke will rejoin the starting lineup for Sunday night's clash with the Dallas Cowboys.
Newly signed Garrett Gilbert had no choice but to start in Tuesday's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles with Heinicke and backup Kyle Allen both on the COVID-19 list.
Washington dropped to 6-8 with the defeat, putting the team on the precipice of elimination from the playoff hunt.
Heinicke has started 12 games and made one further appearance this season after taking over the top job for an injured Ryan Fitzpatrick. He has completed 66.5% of his passes for 2,931 yards and 19 touchdowns against 12 interceptions.
