Lamar out vs. Bengals, Huntley placed on COVID-19 list
The Baltimore Ravens placed quarterback Tyler Huntley on the COVID-19 reserve list ahead of Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals, they announced Saturday.
Huntley was previously listed as questionable for Sunday after missing Friday's practice with what was then deemed a non-COVID illness.
The 23-year-old took over under center following Lamar Jackson's ankle injury two weeks ago against the Cleveland Browns. Huntley threw for 215 yards and a pair of touchdowns while rushing for 73 yards and two scores in Baltimore's loss to Green Bay last week.
The Ravens' Week 16 quarterback situation has evolved quickly. Jackson, who was listed as questionable Friday, isn't traveling to Cincinnati as he hasn't made enough progress rehabbing his ankle; practice-squad passer Chris Streveler is also on the COVID reserve list. That's left third-stringer Josh Johnson - who Baltimore signed to the practice squad two weeks ago and was the only quarterback at Friday's practice - as Sunday's starter. It'll be the 35-year-old's first NFL start since 2018.
Backing up Johnson will be rookie Kenji Bahar, who was activated from the practice squad. Bahar, a Baltimore native, spent time on the Ravens' roster this summer as an undrafted free agent and has yet to appear in a game. He's one of nine practice-squad players the Ravens activated as COVID replacements.
While the team still has nine players on the COVID-19 list, wide receiver Sammy Watkins was activated Saturday and is eligible to play against the Bengals. Baltimore also activated outside linebacker Daelin Hayes from injured reserve.
Special teams coach T.J. Weist is also not traveling to Cincinnati, the team said. Randy Brown will handle Weist's duties Sunday.
