San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is expected to return for the team's crucial divisional regular-season finale against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, a source told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Garoppolo is dealing with a torn ligament in his thumb and missed last week's win over the Houston Texans.
Rookie Trey Lance started in Week 17 and took the majority of practice reps this week with Garoppolo ailing.
The 49ers reportedly didn't activate another quarterback ahead of Week 18.
San Francisco can clinch a wild-card spot with a win or tie versus the Rams or a New Orleans Saints loss or tie.
