Bills land Von Miller on 6-year deal worth reported $120M
Star edge rusher Von Miller is heading to the Buffalo Bills on a blockbuster six-year contract that will pay him $120 million, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
The deal includes $51.5 million guaranteed, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Miller will move to Buffalo after helping the Los Angeles Rams win Super Bowl LVI. The title marked Miller's second championship after winning Super Bowl 50 with the Denver Broncos.
Despite nearing his 33rd birthday, Miller was arguably the top pass-rusher on the free-agent market. He recorded 9.5 sacks last season, registering five of them after the Broncos traded him to the Rams. He added four sacks in the playoffs, including two in the Super Bowl.
Miller is an eight-time Pro Bowler and one of the top pass-rushers of his era. He's posted 127 career sacks and hit double digits in that category in seven seasons.
Buffalo has tried to bolster its edge presence for years. The Bills were linked to Miller through trade rumors in the past but were more connected to Chandler Jones - a Rochester native - in free agency. Jones inked a three-year deal with the Las Vegas Raiders hours before Miller agreed to his new pact.
The Bills have also spent high picks on pass-rushers recently. They selected Gregory Rousseau, Boogie Basham, and A.J. Epenesa within the first two rounds of the last two drafts.
Buffalo is coming off back-to-back AFC East titles and appears to be a budding powerhouse with Josh Allen emerging as a superstar quarterback. Sean McDermott's team had the NFL's No. 1 defense last season despite losing top cornerback Tre'Davious White to a knee injury midway through the campaign.
The Rams, Dallas Cowboys, and Cleveland Browns were all reportedly vying for Miller's services in free agency. Miller teased a return to Denver before the market opened, but the Broncos seemingly exited the sweepstakes by agreeing to a big-money contract with Randy Gregory on Tuesday.
Buffalo also signed former Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end O.J. Howard to a one-year contract Wednesday. Howard spent the last five seasons with the Buccaneers, peaking in 2018 with 565 yards and five touchdowns.
