Report: Chiefs interested in Giants' Bradberry
The Kansas City Chiefs are interested in acquiring New York Giants cornerback James Bradberry, according to Nate Taylor of The Athletic.
Bradberry has been rumored to be on the trade block throughout the offseason. He's due $13.4 million in base salary in 2022, a high price for a Giants team pressed up against the salary cap.
The 28-year-old has spent the last two seasons in New York. Bradberry made the Pro Bowl in 2020 but struggled in 2021. The Giants chose to hang on to him at the beginning of the new league year, trimming salary elsewhere to get under the cap.
The Chiefs lacked financial flexibility at the start of free agency but opened a wad of room Wednesday by trading star wide receiver Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins. The club has already distributed some of the savings, agreeing to deals with former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling and former Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Ronald Jones.
Kansas City has L'Jarius Sneed, Rashad Fenton, and Deandre Baker atop the depth chart at cornerback. It lost Charvarius Ward shortly after the market opened when he signed a three-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers.
The Chiefs have also shown interest in five-time Pro Bowl cornerback Stephon Gilmore, reports Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network. The 31-year-old played for the Carolina Panthers last season after spending four campaigns with the New England Patriots.
