The New York Jets are signing defensive lineman and former No. 3 overall pick Solomon Thomas, a source told Brian Costello of the New York Post.
Thomas is coming off a one-year stint with the Las Vegas Raiders. The San Francisco 49ers drafted him third overall in 2017 but moved on after four unproductive campaigns.
While he hasn't lived up to his draft status, Thomas recorded a career-best 12 quarterback hits last season, adding 3.5 sacks in a backup role.
The 26-year-old will join a Jets defensive line that features Carl Lawson and John Franklin-Myers on the ends and Quinnen Williams and Sheldon Rankins at tackle. Thomas, who's undersized compared to most interior linemen, has played all over the defensive front since breaking into the NFL.
