Jets make Breece Hall 1st RB taken after swinging trade with Giants
The New York Jets moved up to make Iowa State's Breece Hall the first running back taken at No. 36 overall in the second round.
The Jets sent No. 38 and No. 146 to the New York Giants to slide up to the 36th slot, according to ESPN's Field Yates.
Hall rushed for 1472 yards in 2021 with 20 touchdowns. He compiled 3,941 career rushing yards and 56 total touchdowns during his time at Iowa State.
He could challenge for the Jets' starting running back job. No New York rusher exceeded 650 yards last season, with Michael Carter's 639 yards leading the team.
Scouting profile: Breece Hall
School | Height | Weight | 40 time |
---|---|---|---|
Iowa State | 5'11 | 217 | 4.39 |
Hall is by far the most intriguing player in the group after averaging 1,763 yards from scrimmage and 23 touchdowns over the last two seasons behind a subpar offensive line. He followed that up with a dominant performance at the NFL combine, resulting in the seventh-best relative athletic score (RAS) a runner has posted since 1987. He offers a near-complete profile with the explosiveness, physicality, and sufficient pass-catching chops to be a star in the pros.
