Report: Chiefs signing undrafted ex-Clemson star Ross
The Kansas City Chiefs are signing former Clemson star wide receiver Justyn Ross as an undrafted free agent, a source told Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network.
Ross was once considered a likely first-round selection but didn't hear his name called during the draft after being diagnosed with a congenital spinal condition and missing the entire 2020 season.
The 22-year-old underwent multiple surgeries and was cleared to return for the 2021 campaign. He had 46 catches for 514 yards and three touchdowns while dealing with a foot injury that eventually ended his season in November.
Ross burst onto the scene during the 2018 campaign and capped off a spectacular year with a combined 301 yards and three scores in Clemson's playoff run to a national title.
It was speculated prior to the draft that the wideout could still be a Day 3 selection, but teams were seemingly wary of his injury history.
Ross will fight for a place in the Chiefs' new-look receiver group, which includes JuJu Smith-Schuster, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Mecole Hardman, and second-rounder Skyy Moore.
