Metcalf signs reported 3-year, $72M extension with Seahawks

Seattle Seahawks signed wide receiver DK Metcalf to a multi-year extension, the team announced Friday.

The extension is a three-year, $72-million contract with $58.2 million guaranteed, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The deal also includes a $30-million signing bonus, the highest ever for a wide receiver, Schefter reports.

The 24-year-old was entering the final year of his rookie contract, which was set to pay him $3.9 million in 2022. Metcalf's new pact ties him to Seattle through 2025.

Metcalf reported to Seahawks training camp but didn't take part in drills as he awaited a new deal. Head coach Pete Carroll indicated that both sides were working toward a new agreement.

The former Ole Miss product has been an integral piece of the Seahawks' offense since being drafted in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He's posted over 900 receiving yards in each of his three seasons and earned a Pro Bowl honor in 2020.

Metcalf hauled in 75 receptions for 967 yards and 12 touchdowns during his 2021 campaign.

The Mississippi native becomes the latest receiver to cash in with a blockbuster extension ahead of the 2022 season, following Tyreek Hill, Davante Adams, and Terry McLaurin.
