Report: Saints' Penning kicked out of practice for fighting
The New Orleans Saints ejected offensive tackle Trevor Penning from practice on Wednesday after he got into a fight with teammates for a third consecutive day, according to Pro Football Talk's Michael David Smith.
Penning got into an altercation with defensive lineman Malcolm Roach, resulting in both players being sent to the locker room.
The Saints' 2022 first-round pick sparred with Payton Turner and Taco Charlton on Monday, and he drew the ire of defensive back J.T. Gray and defensive lineman Scott Patchan on Tuesday.
The Northern Iowa product was recognized for his aggressive play leading up to the draft this spring. However, head coach Dennis Allen has apparently grown irritated with some of Penning's antics.
"We don't have time for that," he told reporters, according to ESPN's Mike Triplett. Allen also noted that the team has to learn to work together.
Penning has been unapologetic about his style of play, insisting that it's merely his approach to the game.
"That’s how I've always played the game; to me, that's just how it's meant to be played," Penning said Tuesday, The Associated Press' Brett Martel reports. "I'm not going out there to start a fight or anything. But things happen."
