Arizona Cardinals defensive end J.J. Watt won't play in the team's final two preseason games after testing positive for COVID-19, the club announced Sunday.

The five-time All-Pro defender will miss the Cardinals' contests against the Baltimore Ravens and Tennessee Titans.

Watt played in seven games last season after sustaining a shoulder injury against his former club, the Houston Texans. He was placed on injured reserve after undergoing surgery but was activated before Arizona's wild-card matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.

Watt, a three-time Defensive Player of the Year, signed a two-year, $28-million contract with the Cardinals following his release from Houston in February 2021.

Watt recorded 16 tackles, five tackles for loss, and one sack during 2021. The 2017 Walter Payton Man of Year is nearly four seasons removed from recording 18 tackles for loss, 16 sacks, and a league-leading seven forced fumbles as a member of the Texans in 2018.
