San Francisco 49ers left tackle Trent Williams likely suffered a high ankle injury sprain in Sunday night's loss to the Denver Broncos, head coach Kyle Shanahan announced, according to David Lombardi of The Athletic.
Williams was injured in the third quarter when a Broncos defensive lineman fell into his leg awkwardly. The Pro Bowl left tackle walked to the locker room under his own power but was unable to return.
Jaylon Moore briefly replaced Williams, but Colton McKivitz later took over at left tackle.
The 34-year-old is the key piece of San Francisco's offensive line. Last season, Williams was named to the Pro Bowl for the ninth time and a first-team All-Pro for the first time.
