Kingsbury: Cardinals need to figure out slow starts

The Arizona Cardinals struggled again to put up first-half points in their loss to the Los Angeles Rams, and head coach Kliff Kingsbury said postgame they need to find a way to get off to better starts.

"We've got to figure that out," said Kingsbury. "Especially when you play the world champs; go three and out, blocked punt, that's a tough way to start the game."

Kingsbury added: "It's all of us. Coaches, players, play-calling. I don't know if we're trying too hard to call the perfect play and do too much. But it's been one thing after another, and we've got to get it figured out."

Arizona has only scored 13 first-half points through three games, which is tied for 29th in the NFL.

The Cardinals were missing key players on offense against the Rams. Wide receiver Rondale Moore sat out his third straight game with a hamstring injury, while wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins won't be back until Week 7 for violating the league's performance-enhancing drug policy.

Quarterback Kyler Murray echoed Kingsbury's comments about starting slow.

"That's not winning football," Murray said. "We are making it tough on ourselves. You see the rest of the game is competitive, but in the first quarter, we can't make shit happen, can't get anything going. It's just bad football."

The Cardinals are off to a 1-2 start and will look to even up their record against the Carolina Panthers in Week 4.
