Report: Cooks, Claypool among WRs generating trade interest before deadline
The Houston Texans have received multiple calls regarding the availability of wide receiver Brandin Cooks, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Additionally, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool has also generated interest but isn't expected to be dealt, barring a shift from the club, Rapoport adds.
Cooks has had a quiet start to his third campaign with the Texans. The nine-year veteran has recorded 24 receptions for 235 yards and one touchdown through five games.
The 29-year-old pass-catcher has been a staple of Houston's passing attack since being acquired in a trade with the Los Angeles Rams in 2020, recording back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons.
Cooks signed a two-year, $39.76-million contract extension with the Texans in April. He has previously been traded on three separate occasions since being drafted by the New Orleans Saints in 2014. Cooks would tie Hall of Fame running back Eric Dickerson's record if he's traded for the fourth time.
Claypool, 24, is in his third season with the Steelers. The former second-round pick has tallied 23 receptions for 225 yards and one score through six contests. The Notre Dame product has surpassed 800 receiving yards in each of his previous two seasons.
The emergence of rookie wideout George Pickens alongside veteran Diontae Johnson has resulted in Claypool receiving fewer targets this season.
The Denver Broncos have also received interest in wideout Jerry Jeudy ahead of the NFL's trade deadline on Nov. 1.
