Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams is expected to miss at least four weeks due to a high ankle sprain, according to The Athletic's Daniel Popper.

Williams sustained the injury on a fourth-down reception near the sideline during the fourth quarter of last weekend's game against the Seattle Seahawks. Williams appeared to get his cleat stuck in the grass and was tackled awkwardly by Seattle cornerback Michael Jackson.

The 28-year-old needed assistance from the team's medical staff to make his way to the sideline and didn't put any weight on his right leg. He was spotted wearing a walking boot following Sunday's contest.

Head coach Brandon Staley said Monday that Williams would miss a "matter of weeks, not days" because of the ailment, per ESPN's Lindsey Thiry.

Williams leads the Chargers with 495 receiving yards to go along with 37 receptions and three touchdowns. He tallied 1,146 yards and nine scores last season.

L.A. has been marred by injuries through the first seven weeks of the season. Tackle Rashawn Slater and cornerback J.C. Jackson have both been lost for the year. Wideout Keenan Allen returned last week after missing five games due to a hamstring injury.

Additionally, there's optimism that star pass-rusher Joey Bosa will return to the lineup for multiple games later this season, Popper reports.

The Chargers have a bye in Week 8 before playing the Atlanta Falcons on Nov. 6.
