Indianapolis Colts star running back Jonathan Taylor will miss Sunday's game against the New England Patriots due to an ankle injury, the team announced Friday.

Colts head Frank Reich said Indianapolis has no plans to place Taylor on injured reserve, calling the ailment a week-to-week issue, according to Zak Keefer of The Athletic.

Deon Jackson will start for the Colts after they traded Nyheim Hines to the Buffalo Bills just before Tuesday's deadline. Zack Moss, who came in as part of the Hines deal, and Phillip Lindsay could also see work.

Taylor missed Weeks 5 and 6 due to the same ankle injury, and Jackson produced 104 rushing yards, 108 receiving yards, and one touchdown in those two games.

After leading the NFL in rushing last season, Taylor has struggled to maintain that form amid major issues for the Colts' offense. He has 462 rushing yards and one touchdown, with his lone 100-yard game coming in the season opener.

Meanwhile, sophomore pass-rusher Kwity Paye will return on a snap count after a high ankle sprain kept him sidelined since Week 5, according to Mike Chappell of Fox59.
