Stafford ruled out vs. Chiefs
Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay announced Wednesday that quarterback Matthew Stafford won't play against the Kansas City Chiefs, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.
McVay is calling Stafford's injury a neck issue, although the passer is currently in the concussion protocol, per The Athletic's Jourdan Rodrigue. The team can't say whether he suffered a concussion, according to Rodrigue.
Bryce Perkins will likely fill in as L.A.'s starter as backup John Wolford is dealing with a neck injury.
Stafford missed the Rams' Week 10 contest due to a concussion before re-entering the concussion protocol following last week's game. McVay said Stafford felt numbness in his legs after a hit Sunday and underwent further testing Monday, per Rodrigue.
The Rams will take it week by week. McVay hasn't ruled out shutting down Stafford for the rest of the year.
Perkins, 25, joined the Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2020. He made his NFL debut last week, completing 5 of 10 passes for 64 yards.
McVay also announced that Rams defensive tackle A'Shawn Robinson will undergo surgery for a torn meniscus and miss the remainder of the season.
