New York Jets quarterback Mike White was taken to hospital as a precaution after Sunday's 20-12 loss to the Buffalo Bills, head coach Robert Saleh said postgame, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

White exited the Week 14 matchup twice after taking big shots from Bills defenders but managed to return to the game both times.

Joe Flacco replaced White for a few plays midway through the second quarter after the starter was hit by defensive tackle Ed Oliver.

Linebacker Matt Milano then hit White in the ribs in the third quarter, forcing the signal-caller to the locker room and seemingly ending his day. But the former fifth-round pick returned to the game and played the Jets' final four offensive drives.

"I thought he showed resolve, toughness, everything that we've been seeing," said Saleh. The coach added White will remain the starter next week if healthy.

In his third start of the season, White completed 27 of 44 passes for 268 yards. He was sacked three times and had a fumble that New York recovered.
