Report: Cowboys' Steele tore ACL, MCL vs. Texans
Dallas Cowboys offensive tackle Terence Steele will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a torn ACL and MCL against the Houston Texans on Sunday, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network and Todd Archer of ESPN.
Steele left the game in the second half and didn't return. Josh Ball struggled after stepping in for Steele and was replaced by veteran offensive lineman Jason Peters.
The 25-year-old Steele started all 13 games for the Cowboys this season. He was an undrafted free-agent signing following the 2020 NFL Draft.
The Cowboys activated the 21-day practice window for Tyron Smith last Wednesday. Smith, who's primarily their starting left tackle, progressed well enough last week and has a chance to play this Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to Rapoport.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said after the game that Ball and Peters will get a chance to step in for Steele, as there are no plans to move Tyler Smith or Tyron Smith to right tackle, according to Jon Machota of The Athletic.
The Cowboys are 10-3 and sit in second place in the NFC East.
