Packers, Jenkins agree to reported 4-year extension worth up to $74M
The Green Bay Packers and guard Elgton Jenkins have agreed to a contract extension, the team announced Friday.
Jenkins' new deal is a four-year contract worth up to $74 million, sources told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. The pact has a base value of $68 million and contains a $24-million signing bonus, Rapoport adds.
The new deal also makes Jenkins the NFL's second-highest-paid guard behind Quenton Nelson, whose contract averages $20 million per season.
Jenkins, who's a year removed from a season-ending ACL injury, was playing in the final year of his rookie contract.
The 26-year-old has started 12 games for Green Bay this campaign after missing Week 1 while still recovering from knee surgery.
Jenkins has given up just three sacks this season, two of which came when the team asked him to start at right tackle.
The Packers shifted him back to his more natural left guard spot - where he earned a Pro Bowl nomination in 2020 - from Week 7. Jenkins has returned to form since the move, allowing zero pressures or sacks over the last four games, according to PFF.
Green Bay selected Jenkins in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft following a standout career at Mississippi State.
