The Carolina Panthers signed free-agent cornerback Josh Norman with Jaycee Horn potentially out for the season with a broken wrist, a source told Jordan Schultz, theScore's NFL Insider.

The Panthers confirmed later Monday that they had added Norman to the practice squad ahead of Week 17.

"I want to not just go to the playoffs, but go on a deep run," said Norman.

Carolina brought in Norman - who spent the first four seasons of his NFL career in Carolina, earning first-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl nominations in 2015 - for a workout Monday.

He helped the Panthers reach Super Bowl 50 and was hit with the franchise tag the following offseason, but after negotiations fell apart, the one-year tender was rescinded and he signed with the Washington Commanders as a free agent.

Norman played the next four seasons in Washington and was released ahead of the 2020 campaign. After spending the following two years with the Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers, the cornerback has been a free agent for the first 16 weeks of the regular season.
