Bengals' Chase: 'Hell yeah,' I'm the best receiver in the league
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase believes he's the best wide receiver in the league.
"Hell yeah," Chase said when asked if he's the NFL's premier wideout, according to Geoff Hobson of the team's site. "I just put up how many stats with four missed games? Who knows what would have happened."
Although Chase missed four games this season due to a hip injury, he finished 17th in receiving yards in 2022 with 1,046. He also hauled in 87 catches and nine touchdowns over 12 games. Additionally, Chase ranked fourth in receiving yards in his rookie campaign last season.
"I've been thinking it. I'm not a cocky person. I'm humble. I know what I can do," Chase said. "I don't need to prove it. Everybody knows what I can do. Never a doubt in my mind."
The 22-year-old receiver and star quarterback Joe Burrow have built on their chemistry from their time together at LSU. Chase's seven catches of 50-plus yards lead the NFL since the start of last season. He's also been targeted 72 times in six games since returning from his injury in Week 13.
"I need to be here, too," said Chase when he was asked if he wants to stay in Cincinnati. "Yeah, man. Keep this going. Try to get as many AFC championships as we can get. Make it to the Super Bowl as many times as possible. Me and (Burrow), we're like bread and butter. As long as he's got me and I've got him, I should be here for a good time."
Chase is eligible for a contract extension after the 2023 season.
