The Houston Texans are hiring Bobby Slowik as their new offensive coordinator, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Slowik was the offensive passing game coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers last season and coached alongside Houston's new sideline boss DeMeco Ryans for the past six years.

Pep Hamilton, who had been the Texans' offensive coordinator for the last two seasons, was relieved of his duties when the franchise hired Ryans.

The 49ers hired Slowik as a defensive assistant in 2017 before moving him to the offensive side of the ball in 2019.

Slowik will look to rejuvenate a Houston offense that lacks depth and finished 30th in points per game this season but has young pieces in running back Dameon Pierce and wide receiver Nico Collins.

The Texans went 3-13-1 in 2022 and hold the second overall pick in the upcoming draft.
