Report: Commanders sign Brissett to 1-year, $10M deal
The Washington Commanders are signing quarterback Jacoby Brissett to a one-year, $10-million contract with $8 million guaranteed, sources told Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.
Brissett spent last season with the Cleveland Browns, going 4-7 in 11 starts. He lost his starting job to Deshaun Watson when the latter returned from a league-induced suspension. The 30-year-old played well despite the losing record, throwing for 2,608 yards with 12 touchdowns and six interceptions.
This will be Brissett's fourth team in as many seasons. The New England Patriots drafted him in the third round in 2016 but shipped him to the Indianapolis Colts for wide receiver Phillip Dorsett after just one year.
Brissett spent four seasons with the Colts and was their primary starting quarterback in 2019. He signed a one-year deal with the Dolphins in 2021, then inked a one-year contract with the Browns last offseason.
He has a 18-30 record in 48 career starts across his seven-year career.
