Sources: Titans signing Murphy-Bunting to 1-year deal worth up to $5M
The Tennessee Titans are signing cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting to a one-year deal worth up to $5 million, sources told theScore's NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
Murphy-Bunting was a second-round pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2019 draft. He spent his entire four-year career with the Buccaneers and helped lead them to victory in Super Bowl LV.
The 25-year-old will help stabilize a Titans secondary that finished last in passing yards allowed per game last season. Murphy-Bunting could set himself up for a larger payday after the 2023 season, given his age and potential. His availability has been a concern over the past two seasons, having missed 13 games due to multiple injuries.
The Central Michigan alum started 26 of 53 games for Tampa Bay during his tenure. He also notched five starts in 12 games last season.
Tennessee's current cornerback group features Kristian Fulton and former first-round selection Caleb Farley. Murphy-Bunting joins Arden Key and Azeez Al-Shaair among the Titans' most notable free-agent signings.
Murphy-Bunting has six interceptions and 21 pass breakups in 53 career games.
