Lazard confident Rodgers deal will go through

New York Jets wide receiver Allen Lazard remains confident he'll be reunited with former Green Bay Packers teammate Aaron Rodgers.

"There's no worry on my end, especially knowing that Aaron has his full-on commitment to be a New York Jet this year," Lazard told TMZ Sports. "It's really on the guys upstairs to handle the business side of things."

"A lot of us are obviously eager for this to get through," he added.

However, Lazard said that with no OTAs scheduled and the first game of the season in September, there's "no rush in getting this process done."

"I know once it goes through and we're able to get in the classroom together, the field together, we're going to be cooking up something special," he said.

Rodgers stated his intention to play for the Jets earlier in March. Joining New York would bring an end to his illustrious 18-year tenure in Green Bay, in which he won a Super Bowl title and was named league MVP four times.

Lazard, 27, signed a four-year, $44-million contract with Jets after spending the first five years of his career with the Packers. He emerged as one of Rodgers' most-reliable targets last season, recording 60 receptions for 788 yards and six touchdowns.

The Iowa State product cited Rodgers' potential addition and the presence of offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett as the two main factors in his decision to join the team. Hackett served as Green Bay's offensive coordinator from 2019-21.

"Nathaniel Hackett - I think that was probably the biggest piece of the puzzle for me," Lazard said. "Someone I've worked with for four of the past five seasons."

Lazard is projected to be a key weapon in a revamped Jets passing attack. The club added Mecole Hardman after trading Elijah Moore to the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday. New York is also among the many suitors vying to land free-agent wideout Odell Beckham Jr.
