Report: Marvin Jones rejoins Lions on 1-year, $3M deal
The Detroit Lions are signing wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. to a one-year, $3-million contract, a source told NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.
Jones, 33, starred for five seasons in Detroit from 2016-20. He spent the past two campaigns with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Jones shared his excitement about returning to the Lions on Twitter.
Jones recorded 289 receptions, 4,296 yards, and 36 touchdowns during his first stint with the Lions. He led the league with 18 yards per reception in 2017 when he also tallied 1,101 yards.
The Lions gain some veteran experience for a young receiving corps that features Amon-Ra St. Brown, Josh Reynolds, and Jameson Williams. Detroit lost DJ Chark, who opted to sign with the Carolina Panthers during free agency.
Jones, a former fifth-round selection, began his career with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2012.
The Cal product tallied 46 receptions for 529 yards and three touchdowns with the Jaguars in 2022.
