Peacock is set to become home of the first-ever exclusively livestreamed NFL playoff game next season, the league and NBCUniversal announced Monday.

The streaming service will air a playoff game during the wild-card round on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024. The streamed contest will follow NBC and Peacock's co-broadcast of the 4:30 pm ET wild-card game.

The Peacock exclusive matchup will also air on NBC stations in the competing teams' cities. The game will mark the first time a postseason contest is available to viewers primarily through streaming and not via a national broadcast or cable network.

NBCUniversal is paying in the range of $110 million to stream the playoff game, sources told Joe Flint and Jessica Toonkel of the Wall Street Journal.

"We are thrilled to partner with the NFL on this industry milestone," said Pete Bevacqua, NBC Sports chairman. "As Peacock continues to grow, nothing says 'must-have' programming more than live NFL games."

"Expanding the digital distribution of NFL content while maintaining wide reach for our games continues to be a key priority for the league, and bringing the excitement of an NFL playoff game exclusively to Peacock's streaming platform is the next step in that strategy," said Hans Schroeder, NFL executive vice president and COO of NFL Media.

NBCUniversal will also air Sunday's prime-time wild-card matchup on Jan. 14, making it the first media outlet to broadcast three playoff games in a single weekend.

Peacock currently streams Sunday Night Football and Notre Dame football and will air Big Ten football games this fall.
