Ravens' Jackson praises Odell: He's faster than people give him credit for
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson praised wide receiver Odell Beckham's athleticism and said the two are on the same page heading into the season.
"I feel like our chemistry, it's there," Jackson said after Tuesday's practice, according to team reporter Clifton Brown. "And he's a lot faster than people give him credit for. A lot faster."
Beckham signed a one-year, $15-million contract with the Ravens this offseason, adding much-needed depth to the team's receiver room. Baltimore didn't have a wideout eclipse 460 receiving yards last season.
The 30-year-old didn't play last year as he recovered from a torn ACL suffered in Super Bowl LVI. Beckham had two catches for 52 yards and one touchdown before exiting the NFL championship contest.
Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey said Tuesday that Beckham is getting the best of him at camp and relayed Jackon's message about their chemistry together.
"He's done some kind of bad stuff to me, actually, so that's a good thing - that there's more in the tank," Humprey said. "I think that connection's going to be sweet. I'm really excited for those two guys to make some big things happen."
Humphrey added he expects the Ravens to have two 1,000-yard receivers this season. Rashod Bateman, rookie Zay Flowers, Nelson Agholor, and Devin Duvernay round out Baltimore's wide receiver depth chart.
Beckham was selected in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft. The LSU product has 531 catches for 7,367 receiving yards in 96 career games.
Baltimore kicks off its season on Sept. 10 against the Houston Texans.
