Dolphins name Charles Clay starter at tight end
The Dolphins aren't interested in a long, drawn-out battle for their starting tight end gig.
After Dustin Keller suffered a season-ending injury on Saturday, the team has decided that fullback/tight end Charles Clay will be their starter at tight end.
Mike Sherman confirmed as much to the media on Tuesday.
“You’d have to give the nod to Clay as the starter. He’ll play in a bunch of different packages. He’ll play in the backfield as well as on the line of scrimmage. He’ll play split out. He’ll do a lot of different things for us and he’s more than capable.”
Clay has caught 34 passes for 445 yards and five touchdowns in two seasons with the Dolphins.
