Report: Eagles' Barnett gauging trade interest
Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Derek Barnett is gauging his trade interest around the league amid likely limited playing time with the NFC champions, sources told Jeremey Fowler of ESPN.
Philadelphia is hoping to keep the 2017 first-round pick but understands its deep pass-rushing group could limit Barnett's opportunities, adds Fowler.
The 27-year-old has failed to live up to his draft status in six seasons with the Eagles. He had his least-productive campaign as a pass-rusher in 2021, earning just two sacks, but he did tally a career-high 46 total tackles. Barnett suffered a torn ACL in Week 1 last year.
Barnett's best season came in 2019, when he racked up 6.5 sacks, 22 quarterback hits, and two forced fumbles.
The Eagles boast one of the NFL's best front sevens, with Brandon Graham, Fletcher Cox, Josh Sweat, and Haason Reddick headlining the group.
