Panthers' Young expected to miss Seahawks game with ankle injury
Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young isn't expected to play in Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks due to an ankle injury, the team announced Thursday.
Andy Dalton will start against the Seahawks. Carolina also brought Jake Luton back to its practice squad Wednesday to likely act as Dalton's backup.
Young - who missed his second consecutive practice Thursday - suffered the injury at some point during Monday's loss to the New Orleans Saints but was able to finish the game.
The No. 1 overall pick has struggled in his first two NFL games. Amid issues all over the Panthers' new-look offense, the former Alabama star has completed 59.2% of his passes for 299 yards and two touchdowns against two interceptions. He's also rushed for 51 yards.
Boasting 162 starts and three Pro Bowl nods across 12 seasons, Dalton is one of the NFL's most experienced backups. He performed solidly for the New Orleans Saints last season, throwing for 2,871 yards and 18 touchdowns against nine interceptions in 14 starts.
