Colts' Richardson won't play vs. Ravens due to concussion

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson won't play in Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens, head coach Shane Steichen announced Friday, according to James Boyd of The Athletic.

The No. 4 overall pick missed all three practice sessions after suffering a concussion in Week 2. Veteran Gardner Minshew, who replaced the rookie versus the Houston Texans last week, will start against Baltimore.

Richardson is optimistic about returning for Week 4, a source told Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.

The 21-year-old sustained the ailment on his second touchdown run of the first quarter against Houston. He returned for the following two series before self-reporting concussion symptoms.

The young signal-caller also suffered minor ankle and knee injuries late in his NFL debut while running the ball, though the Colts said he could've returned if needed.

Richardson has thrown for 279 yards and one touchdown against one interception this season. He's also rushed for 75 yards and three scores.

Minshew completed 19 of 23 passes for 171 yards and a touchdown as the Colts won their first game of the season in Week 2.

Indianapolis will also be without Pro Bowl center Ryan Kelly due to a concussion. Guard Quenton Nelson (toe) and cornerbacks Kenny Moore (knee) and Dallis Flowers were listed as questionable. Nelson was a full participant at practice on Friday.
