Fields thinks Bears can make playoffs: 'We've got 14 left'
Justin Fields remains optimistic about the Chicago Bears' chances of making the playoffs despite their poor start to the season.
Following the Bears' 41-10 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 3, Fields said he believes Chicago can still turn things around and pointed to the 2022 Detroit Lions as an example.
"The Lions started 1-6 last year and they almost made the playoffs," Fields said, according to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. "We've got 14 left, at least."
After starting last season 1-6, the Lions went on to win eight of their next 10 games and remained in playoff contention until Week 18.
The Bears fell to 0-3 with their loss to the Chiefs, but they have an opportunity to earn their first win of the season Sunday when they host the 0-3 Denver Broncos.
Fields acknowledged that he "needs to be better," but he said he appreciates what he gets to do for a living.
"I'm looking at it like the big picture, just life in general," Fields explained. "I think this past week has had me kind of look at it like, what are the important things in life? ... I think these past couple of weeks have made me appreciate the little things in life, like being able to play this game.
"Every opportunity I get to go out there and play, I'm going to have fun. I'm going to play my hardest and just thank God for giving me the ability to play. So, no matter what the scoreboard is, I'm going to keep to the same mindset and just pushing and keep moving forward."
