Packers' LaFleur: 'We got our ass kicked' vs. Lions
Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur didn't hold back on what he thought of his team's performance on Thursday Night Football.
"We got our ass kicked," LaFleur said, according to Kevin Patra of NFL Network.
He added: "It wasn't good enough. They whipped us. They manhandled us."
Packers safety Rudy Ford recorded an interception on the Lions' first drive that resulted in a Green Bay field goal, but Detroit's offense had its way from there.
The Lions totaled 198 yards and 24 points on the following four drives, putting the Packers in a big hole early. Detroit capped that run by getting an interception in Green Bay territory to set up a touchdown that pushed the lead to 24-3 just two minutes into the second quarter.
It's the second straight contest Green Bay has trailed by at least 17 points in the first half.
Packers quarterback Jordan Love had his worst game of the season, completing 23 of 36 passes for 246 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.
The Lions sacked Love five times, resulting in minus-43 yards for Green Bay's offense.
"It's hard to throw on your back. We have to protect (Love) better," LaFleur said.
Left tackle David Bakhtiari and left guard Elgton Jenkins didn't suit up for the Packers on Thursday. Green Bay placed Bakhtiari on injured reserve after the 31-year-old had arthroscopic knee surgery Wednesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Bakhtiari is scheduled to have a second surgery in a couple of weeks that will likely sideline him for the remainder of the season, Rapoport adds.
The Packers face off against the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday Night Football in Week 5.
