Barkley inactive for 3rd straight game vs. Dolphins
New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley will sit out a third consecutive game Sunday against the Miami Dolphins due to a high ankle injury, the team announced.
While the running back was initially expected to miss around three weeks, there was optimism he could return for Week 5 after practicing in a limited capacity throughout the week and receiving the questionable tag.
The Giants face a tough task to keep up with the high-flying Dolphins without their top offensive weapon. Miami ranks first in points per game (37.5) and yards per game (511), while New York ranks last in the former category (11.5) and 31st in the latter (252).
Barkley, who produced one of the best seasons of his career in 2022 with 1,312 yards and 10 touchdowns, was injured against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 2.
He produced 155 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns over the first two games.
