Mahomes 'definitely' wants to play flag football at 2028 Olympics

Patrick Mahomes is eyeing a spot on the U.S. Olympic flag football team.

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback told reporters Friday that he's interested in competing in flag football at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, provided age hasn't slowed him down by then.

"I definitely want to, but I've seen some of those guys play the flag football and they're a little faster than I am," Mahomes said. "I know there's not like linemen blocking for you. I'll be 31, 32 years old so if I can still move around, then I'm gonna try to get out there and throw the football around, maybe in L.A. Just don't tell Coach (Andy) Reid or (general manager Brett) Veach or anybody."

Flag football was one of five new sports approved for the 2028 Summer Games last month along with cricket, baseball/softball, lacrosse, and squash.

Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons, Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill, and former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers star tight end Rob Gronkowski have also expressed interest in playing on the U.S. flag football team.

Through eight games this season, the 28-year-old Mahomes has completed 68.8% of his passes for 2,257 yards with 15 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
