Deebo: Trash talk with Eagles not serious, just 'all fun and games'
No love was lost between the 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles during a fiery NFC title game rematch Sunday, but San Francisco receiver Deebo Samuel says the rivalry isn't personal.
Samuel - who called out the Eagles multiple times after their playoff contest in 2022 - starred in the 49ers' 42-19 blowout win, scoring three touchdowns while producing 138 total yards.
"I ain't gonna lie, I was in that zone all week long for us," Samuel said, according to Alex Simon of SF Gate. "They beat us in the NFC championship, and at the end of the day, like talking trash, it's just part of the game. Hopefully, nobody took it to heart because it's all fun and games."
Samuel made headlines by saying the 49ers would've easily beaten the Eagles in the previous postseason if quarterback Brock Purdy had been healthy. He later mocked Philadelphia for its Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
However, the 27-year-old shrugged off the bad blood before Sunday's rematch, saying it was just "another game on the schedule."
The race for the NFC's No. 1 seed and lone bye is now wide open thanks to the NFC West club's statement win.
The 10-2 Eagles remain in the conference's top spot, but the 49ers, Detroit Lions, and Dallas Cowboys - all sitting at 9-3 - are hot on their heels.
