Giants' DeVito, Jets' Wilson highlight Players of the Week
What might be the most unlikely Offensive Players of the Week were announced Wednesday.
New York Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito took home the honour for the NFC after he shined on Monday Night Football, totaling 229 yards and one touchdown in a 24-22 victory over the Green Bay Packers.
The 25-year-old set up Randy Bullock's game-winning field goal after leading the Giants on an eight-play, 57-yard drive with 1:33 remaining. He also completed a career-high 81% of his passes and threw a beautiful touchdown pass on the run to wide receiver Isaiah Hodgins to give New York an eight-point lead late in the third quarter.
New York Jets signal-caller Zach Wilson earned the recognition for the AFC by having arguably the best game of his career. He completed 27 passes for 301 yards and two touchdowns while notching personal bests with a 117.9 passer rating and 75% completion percentage.
The 24-year-old Wilson made some high-difficulty throws in the game, and he led the Jets to 347 total yards and over 37 minutes of possession.
Minnesota Vikings linebacker Ivan Pace Jr. and Tennessee Titans linebacker Harold Landry won the Defensive Player of the Week awards, while Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Tylan Wallace and Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey earned the special teams honors.
