Cook signs with Ravens after release from Jets
The Baltimore Ravens signed free-agent running back Dalvin Cook to the practice squad, the team announced Friday.
The New York Jets released Cook on Tuesday after the two sides agreed to part ways. He cleared waivers Thursday.
The four-time Pro Bowler inked a one-year, $7-million deal with the Jets in August after his release from the Minnesota Vikings. Cook struggled to get significant playing time in New York, totaling 67 carries for 214 yards and zero touchdowns in 15 games.
Baltimore has been riddled with injuries at the running back position this season. The club's top running back, J.K. Dobbins, suffered a torn Achilles in the team's season opener against the Houston Texans. Rookie rusher Keaton Mitchell tore his ACL in Week 15 after becoming a reliable piece in the Ravens' backfield.
The Ravens have six running backs with at least one carry this year. Gus Edwards is leading all rushers in attempts, yards, and touchdowns. Baltimore clinched the No. 1 seed in the AFC with its victory over the Miami Dolphins in Week 17. Next up are the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday.
