Report: Callahan getting more 2nd interviews with Falcons, Panthers
The Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons plan to give a second head coaching interview to Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan this week, sources told Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
A previous report indicated the Tennessee Titans also want to meet with Callahan for a second interview for their head coaching job. The Bengals coordinator spoke to the Los Angeles Chargers for their vacancy as well.
Callahan was a head coach candidate after the 2022 campaign, with the Indianapolis Colts, New York Giants, and Arizona Cardinals all showing interest.
The 39-year-old took over the Bengals' offense in 2019. The unit ranked seventh in points scored in 2021 and 2022 and finished 16th in 2023 despite losing star quarterback Joe Burrow to a season-ending wrist injury in late November.
Former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick, Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh, and Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson are among the other notable candidates the Falcons are considering.
Johnson is also a candidate for the Panthers, along with Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn and Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald, among others.
