Buffalo Bills kicker Tyler Bass took responsibility for his team's 27-24 loss Sunday to the Kansas City Chiefs in the divisional round after he missed a 44-yard field goal with under two minutes left.

"Ultimately, it's completely on me. I've got to do a better job of getting through to my target," Bass said postgame, according to ESPN's Alaina Getzenberg.

He added: "I love this team and it hurts. This one hurts bad. Yeah, I've got to do a better job. Totally on me."

Bass' potential game-tying field goal went wide right. Kansas City got the ball back and secured a first down on an Isiah Pacheco run to ice the contest.

"I've got to do a better job of playing it a little bit more left when you have a left-to-right (wind)," Bass said. "I've been here long enough to know that you have to do that. You know, I was trusting my line that I had in warmups. Hit a good ball, but it didn't work out. I feel terrible, you know?"

Buffalo failed to score a point on its three fourth-quarter drives. The team also unsuccessfully attempted a fake punt to give Kansas City excellent field position early in the frame. Chiefs receiver Mecole Hardman fumbled the ball out of the opposing end zone for a Bills touchback on the following drive, but Buffalo went three-and-out when its offense returned.

Quarterback Josh Allen also threw two incompletions into the end zone from the 26-yard line on the club's final drive before Bass missed the field goal.

"I wish (Bass) wouldn't have been put in that situation," Allen said. "You win as a team, you lose as a team. One play doesn't define a game. It doesn't define a season. I know people are going to be out there saying that. We got to be there for him because, again, we execute a couple of plays prior, probably singing a different tune right now."

Bass made 24 field goals on 29 attempts in the regular season.
