Report: Giants block Seahawks from interviewing Kafka for OC job
The New York Giants blocked the Seattle Seahawks from interviewing offensive coordinator Mike Kafka for the same role, sources told Jonathan Jones of CBS.
Teams have to get permission to interview candidates for lateral moves.
Kafka interviewed with the Seahawks for their head coaching job and the interview went well, according to Jones. The club ultimately hired Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator, Mike Macdonald. Kafka also interviewed for the Tennessee Titans' head coaching position.
The 36-year-old has been the Giants' offensive coordinator for the last two seasons. He was the Kansas City Chiefs' quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator before Brian Daboll brought him to New York.
Macdonald is looking to fill out his coaching staff after he was hired in late January. He reportedly hired former Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier as an assistant head coach.
