Chris Jones doesn't know why the Kansas City Chiefs have become villains in the eyes of some fans, but it's a role he's ready to accept.

"For some reason, everybody used to love us," the Chiefs defensive lineman told NFL Network's Michael Robinson at Super Bowl Opening Night on Monday. "We used to be one of the most favorite teams. Now everybody's like, 'We're ready for the Chiefs to lose.'

"I don't know why, what changed, what dramatic incidents happened to where everybody felt like we should lose now, but that's okay. They can continue hating."

The defending champion Chiefs will face the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday, marking their fourth appearance in the big game in five seasons. The two teams met in Super Bowl LIV in 2020, with the Chiefs defeating the 49ers to capture their first Super Bowl title in 50 years.

Despite claiming two Super Bowl victories under head coach Andy Reid, Jones believes some fans may exaggerate the Chiefs' recent success.

"We haven't won as much as people think," Jones said. "We only won two, right? We only won two out of three."
