Dolphins sign Jonnu Smith to reported 2-year deal worth up to $10M
The Miami Dolphins signed free-agent tight end Jonnu Smith, the team announced Friday.
Terms of the deal weren't announced, but Adam Schefter of ESPN reports the veteran inked a two-year pact worth up to $10 million.
Miami reportedly began negotiating with Smith on Tuesday. The Atlanta Falcons released the FIU product in February after acquiring him from the New England Patriots for a seventh-round pick last offseason.
The 28-year-old set career highs in receptions (50) and receiving yards (582) with Atlanta in 2023. He also contributed three touchdowns in 17 regular-season contests.
The Dolphins got little production from tight ends last season, totaling 414 receiving yards from Durham Smythe and Julian Hill, who are under contract for 2024.
Smith has 219 catches for 2,423 yards and 20 touchdowns in 107 career games.
