Report: Eagles fielding trade calls for Josh Sweat
The Philadelphia Eagles are taking trade calls on defensive end Josh Sweat, sources told Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
Sweat is entering the final year of a three-year, $40-million extension he signed in 2021. He's been with the Eagles since they drafted him in the fourth round of the 2018 draft.
The 26-year-old has been a key contributor to the Eagles' defense in recent years. He broke out in 2022, totaling 48 tackles, 23 quarterback hits, and 11 sacks.
However, Sweat's production took a hit last season. After racking up six sacks in the first 10 games of the campaign, he didn't record any in the final seven contests and had only 16 pressures, according to PFF.
The Eagles also reportedly permitted edge rusher Haason Reddick to seek a trade in February. The team has been shopping both players over the last few weeks, according to Dianna Russini of The Athletic.
Philadelphia's defense ranked 20th in sacks last season after ranking first in 2022. The team selected defensive tackle Jalen Carter and defensive end Nolan Smith in the first round of last year's draft.
Sweat has 196 tackles and 35 sacks in 88 career games.
