Raiders sign Alexander Mattison
The Las Vegas Raiders signed free-agent running back Alexander Mattison on Monday, the team announced.
Mattison spent five seasons with the Minnesota Vikings after being drafted in the third round in 2019.
For most of his Vikings tenure, the 25-year-old served as a change-of-pace option in a running back group that featured Dalvin Cook. However, Mattison ascended to the starting role last season after Minnesota released Cook.
Mattison posted 892 scrimmage yards and three total touchdowns in 2023.
The Boise State product adds a veteran option to the Raiders' backfield following the departure of former starter Josh Jacobs, who signed with the Green Bay Packers last week. Mattison joins a depth chart featuring Zamir White and Ameer Abdullah.
Mattison has tallied 2,370 yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground over his NFL career. He's also posted 100 receptions for 718 yards.
